88 Footwear was started by famed skateboarder Kris Markovich and skateboard
photographer Ed Dominick. The name is based on their favorite year in skateboarding, 1988.
They founded 88 footwear with the intention of making plain,
simple skateboarding shoes with no bells and whistles - just good skate shoes. Most skate
shoe companies have a wide selection of really wild looking shoes, 88 footwear focuses more
on simplicity, quality and function rather than catering to the recent "visual" trends.
